That's why I have several of these amps in addition to my personal system and why I have the original product info sheet, and that pic of them being used in one of (if not the) first demonstration(s) of stereophonic sound put on in the US, which my dad arranged, using those 3 Jensen Imperial G-610 Triaxials, the one on the left ending up in my bedroom and garage for my most fortunate childhood. Ten watts from these amps through that speaker would shake the very ground and fill the whole neighborhood with glorious music. I also have the rebuilt prototype and the original schematic in his handwriting, which I will share with the lucky winner. The schematic, not the prototype... Here is a chance to have what can stand up to amps costing ten times or more what you will have into these even if you pay 1000 dollars or more to give them a quality rebuild. I could have them rebuilt by the tech who rebuilt mine, (the first two production units I think) but you would then be paying much more. After hearing these they instantly became his all time favorite power amps and he has been doing this a long time and worked on some of the most expensive equipment in the world, including Audio Note. The sound of these amps is one of remarkably transparent neutrality, stunning detail and breathtaking realism. A truly holographic soundstage is very much a hallmark of good Williamsons... assuming quality source material... Like early stereo vinyl from RCA Living Stereo for instance... These are exact triode DTN Williamsons according to the landmark circuit he laid down in the spring of 1947 in 'Wireless World', with the addition of another isolated triode stage for an additional 11 db gain, which is hardly needed today. As designed, they can be operated without that 6J5 in place as shown in the three amps on the auditorium stage there. As you can see in the pics, I use these with his standard preamps, an ultra-fi turntable (and large Tannoys in special cabinets my dad made) and am rewarded with real tube and vinyl bliss. I would challenge any system well into the tens of thousands of dollars to sound better. Never heard it yet either. And that's not just my opinion. The Williamson design may not be perfect, (no design is) but it is so good that even after 60 years it remains one of the most significant advancements in audio, ever. These both come with age related issues and are not plug and play. Won't even come with tubes. Invest in a quad of well matched EL 34 Telefunkens... Some really good 6SN7's and some coke bottle 5V4G's. Invest the time and/or money to give these a top quality silver rebuild and you will not regret it. Using (30)stepped matched volume controls is recommended so you can easily match the two settings. I will stand behind the transformers as good, the rest is all easily replaceable. That's one of the cool things about tube audio. Simplicity not only tends to mean awesome sound that really grabs your attention, but also that they can be serviced for the next 60 years by any decent tech or by ourselves even. That may be the most important secret to the best sound. Leaving the signal the heck alone and the use of the most simple circuits possible. Sometimes less really is more, and that philosophy was much of how the great Living Stereo and Mercury Living Presence albums were made so well. There's the recipe. Take it from one who would know. The proud son of a top designer from The Golden Age of Tube Audio. No overseas sales without contacting me first. Sold as is with no returns
